The special court has ordered the production of evidence in the corruption case filed against Bikal Poudel, the then executive director of the Security Printing Center.

On Tuesday, a bench of Special Judges Narayan Prasad Poudel and Bidur Koirala ordered the withdrawal of evidence from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority.

The Authority had filed a corruption case against Poudel on charges of acquiring illegal assets worth Rs 620 million 1918 thousand 684 and 29 paisa. The Authority had also made Poudel's wife Alina Basnet a defendant in the charge sheet, accusing her of playing the role of an accomplice to hide the money.

The charge sheet also claimed that Poudel had deposited the money in the accounts of United Overseas Bank in Singapore and Bank of America in the US, and the Special Court ordered the submission of evidence. The Authority has also made Poudel, his wife Alina Basnet, father Dharma Prasad Sharma Poudel and mother Sheetal Poudel defendants for the purpose of confiscating the assets.

Poudel was also working as an engineer at the National Information Technology Center. Other cases against him are also pending in the special court.
