Singha Durbar Vaidya Khana has started to return to normal. The Vaidya Khana, which has been reducing its production of medicines since 2077 BS, has recently regained its normal pace.

Pradeep KC, Executive Director of the Baidhyakhana Development Committee, informed that the production of medicines has decreased due to the lack of contract agreements for raw materials for three years, and now the production of medicines has been increased.

'There was a problem for some time, now we are focusing on increasing production. We are increasing the turnover along with the increase in production,' he said, 'Currently, the government dispensary alone has received a demand for medicines worth Rs 20 million.'

Executive Director KC informed that Baidhyakhana, which used to spend 233 percent more than its income, has been profitable since Shrawan. He said that the production of medicines has come to a standstill due to the lack of timely supply of raw materials and is currently trying to increase production by solving internal problems.

Producing 86 types of medicines

In 2077 BS, only 12 medicines were produced, but currently 86 types of medicines are being produced here. Of these, 30 medicines are going to the government dispensary. 'We had signed a contract in 2080 Pus for the supply of raw materials. However, we blacklisted the contractor after it failed to produce the raw materials.' A new contract was signed in 2081 BS and medicine has been produced since Shrawan of the same year,' said Executive Director KC.

After the Baidhyakhana continued to incur losses, the employees did not even receive their salaries for seven months. Now, after regular medicine production has turned profitable, the employees are receiving regular salaries.

It is difficult to meet demand

As everyone prefers Baidhyakhana's medicines, the demand is currently increasing and there is currently a demand for medicines worth about 40 million, said KC. 'The demand for medicines is increasing from all over the country, but we have not been able to produce them as per the demand. That is why we have not been able to provide medicines to anyone except the government,' he said.

Executive Director KC informed that work is underway with the goal of supplying medicines to 50 percent of government dispensaries by the end of this year. The demand for medicines including Shilajit, Chyawanprash, Nimia (medicine for joint pain), Chandra Prabhavati, Mahayogaraj, Kanchanar, Triphala and others is high, according to the Vaidyakhana. The production of Swarnabhrasma Bindu, which had been stopped for 15 years, has been resumed.
