Three children rescued, six Indians arrested

Police rescued three Nepali children who were about to be taken to India from Gulariya on Tuesday night. Police said they are investigating the six Indians who were about to be taken to India after taking them into custody.

The rescued children include a 15-year-old girl from Rolpa Uparkot, a 13-year-old girl from Sohi, and an 8-year-old boy from Dang Phulwari.

Police have taken six people from Bahraich district, Uttar Pradesh, India, at Bhansar Road, Gulariya Municipality-7, according to DSP Devendra Kumar Malla, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Bardiya.

The people taken into custody by the police are 74-year-old Lady Mahat, her son 34-year-old Hiralal Mahat, 26-year-old Gyan Kumari Mahat, 35-year-old Sunita Mahat of Ayodhya Golai village, 24-year-old Bhullu Mahat of Bahraich, and 19-year-old Mukesh Mahat, he said. During the initial investigation, the police said that the people taken into custody were working as potters in the Ghorahi market in Dang. Police said that an investigation is underway to determine the purpose for which the Nepali children were taken to India. The Indian citizen also has his cousin.
