Former Education Minister and politician Sumana Shrestha has said that despite the increasing use of social media, there is no education on its use.
Speaking at the session on 'Policy, Leaders and Leadership' under the Kantipur Conclave, she said that education should be provided to children and parents on the use of social media.
'Social media has made citizens stronger. It has reduced the cost of elections,' she said, 'There is no education about the use of social media. There has been no discussion. There is also a risk of misuse.'
She said that education and training should be provided about the good/bad, advantages/disadvantages of social media. 'There has been no discussion about the impact of using digital content on health. Deepfake content is increasing. Children and parents should be educated to citizens,' Shrestha said.
