United Nations Resident Coordinator for Nepal, Leila Peters Yahia, has presented her credentials to Prime Minister Sushila Karki.
The newly appointed Coordinator Yahia met Prime Minister Karki at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar and presented her certificate of appointment.
After being appointed by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Yahia formally began her tenure in Nepal with the approval of the Government of Nepal. Prime Minister Karki congratulated the newly appointed Coordinator Yahia and wished her a successful tenure.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Karki also informed that the government is working to normalize the situation after the Gen-G protests of 23 and 24 Bhadra and put the country on the path of peace and democracy. During this, she also expressed her gratitude for the support, cooperation and trust received from the international community, including the United Nations. Prime Minister Karki also informed that the election, among the main mandates of the government, has reached the stage of completion and that the investigation into the incidents of 23 and 24 Bhadra, has also reached the final stage.
She appreciated the support and partnership received for Nepal's development and humanitarian assistance through UN agencies. Newly appointed coordinator Yahia congratulated Karki for leading the election, which was held under the leadership of Prime Minister Karki in difficult circumstances.
