Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that a suitable environment should be created to create high-paying jobs in the country.
At an interaction on 'Employment Opportunities for Engineers in Nepal' organized by the Nepal Engineers Association, Institute of Engineering Studies Pulchowk Campus and coordinated by K&K Engineering Consulting on Monday, Thapa stressed the need to promote high-paying jobs.
Thapa said that when high-paying jobs are created, it will create other jobs on its own. He also expressed his commitment to take initiatives for the necessary policy reforms to create more jobs.
At the program, K&K Engineering Chairman Purna Kharel said that there is a lot of potential for engineers in Nepal. He said that 150 electrical engineers are working in his own organization in Nepal and that jobs will be created for 600 engineers in the next three years. 'There is no need to leave the country immediately after completing Plus Two to study engineering. The colleges here are good. Foreign work can be done from Nepal. Opportunities are coming to Nepal,' Kharel said. However, he expressed concern that the number of students studying electrical engineering is decreasing despite the increasing demand.
In an interaction, Nepal Engineers Association General Secretary Ravi Bhushan Jha said that the government should provide incentives to companies that are providing employment in Nepal by bringing work from abroad. 'The engineering sector is now creating employment in Nepal by bringing work from abroad and providing good salary facilities. This is a good thing,' he said, 'If the government facilitates it in a policy-level manner, thousands of additional jobs will be created every year. Attention should be paid to this.'
Other speakers at the program emphasized that Nepal's engineering education is world-class and that stakeholders should play a role in preventing Nepali students from going abroad.
