Some Nepalis have been found to have smoked cigarettes as early as 15 years ago. According to the Nepal Multi-Indicator Survey 2081/82 released by the National Statistics Office on Monday, 7.6 percent of men and 2.1 percent of women have smoked a whole cigarette/bidi before the age of 15.
Similarly, the office also stated that 5.1 percent and 41.8 percent of women and men in the age group of 15-49 years in Nepal, respectively, had consumed some type of tobacco product in the month preceding the survey.
