482 vehicles gifted to Nepal by the Indian government targeting the House of Representatives elections have entered through the Birgunj border crossing.
According to Jitendra Rasaili, operations in-charge of TRS Himalayan Logipark Pvt. Ltd., the integrated security checkpoint operator in Birgunj, a total of 482 vehicles, including 20, entered through this checkpoint on Sunday.
India is set to send a total of 538 vehicles to Nepal through the Birgunj checkpoint, but only 56 have yet to enter.
India has provided Nepal with two types of vehicles, Mahindra Scorpio pickups and cars. Rasaili said that the vehicles provided by India have started entering through this checkpoint since Magh 4, and those vehicles are gradually leaving the customs and heading towards the capital Kathmandu.
