Police have arrested a man for stealing gold and silver jewelry worth approximately Rs 14.53 crore from the house of Rinji Lama in Bouddha Tusal, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6.
A team from the District Police Range, Kathmandu, arrested the man from the Swayambhu area. Police said that during the arrest, the police had to open fire at around 11 pm on Monday.
According to SSP Ramesh Thapa, Chief of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, 65 tolas of jewelry have been recovered from the arrested man so far.
Thapa told Kantipur that the man had to be opened fire after he tried to attack the police. As further investigation into the incident is underway, the police have not made the identity of the arrested man public.
