The Judicial Council has appointed 10 district judges and 20 judges.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Judicial Council held on Wednesday. The decision was taken at a time when the Election Commission has issued a code of conduct for the Falgun 21 elections.

The Council has transferred four judges of the Kathmandu District Court. Prakash Kumar Adhikari, Madan Bahadur Dhami, Baburam Subedi and Dhakaram Poudel have been transferred from Kathmandu to other places.

Bimala Regmi, Narayan Sapkota, Pratima Kumari Pokharel Bhattarai have been transferred to Kathmandu. Similarly, 20 district judges who passed the Public Service Commission examination have also been appointed. Similarly, it has been decided to advise on appointing Kathmandu District Court Judge Diwakar Bhatta as the chairman of the Consumer Court. Similarly, the Council has decided to designate all 77 district courts to hear cases related to offences under Section 147 of the Insurance Act.

Earlier, the Judicial Council had sought the consent of the Election Commission on issues including the appointment of judges. The Commission had replied that the appointment could not be made as the code of conduct was in force. But today, the Judicial Council has made the transfer and posting.

Judicial Council spokesperson Ram Prasad Bhattarai said that since this is not an appointment but a transfer and posting, the Commission's letter will not obstruct it.
