Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Anil Kumar Sinha met with the Ambassador of the European Union to Nepal, H.E. Veronique Lorenzo, at the Ministry of Tourism in Singha Durbar on Tuesday.
According to the Ministry's Joint Spokesperson Gokarna Upadhyay, during the meeting, discussions were held on preparations for the House of Representatives elections to be held on February 21, 2005, Nepal's progress since its graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC), aviation safety, air transport standards, and tourism promotion.
Minister Sinha informed about the reform efforts being made by the government to strengthen Nepal's aviation safety and enhance the institutional capacity of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. He also highlighted the policy reforms made for election preparation and tourism promotion.
Ambassador Lorenzo praised Nepal's aviation safety reform initiatives and expressed satisfaction with the progress shown towards resolving regional problems. She clarified that the removal of Nepal from the European Union's aviation safety list is a common goal of both sides.
The Ministry expressed confidence that the meeting will further strengthen bilateral relations between Nepal and the European Union and open new opportunities for cooperation in the fields of aviation safety and tourism development.
