Armed Police Force members banned from resigning, leaving, and giving leave before elections

Resignations, departures, and leave have been suspended from all offices of the Armed Police Force Nepal, targeting the upcoming House of Representatives elections.

As per the Integrated Security Plan for the Election of Members of the House of Representatives, the maximum number of personnel of the Armed Police Force Nepal has to be mobilized for the election, DSP Shailendra Thapa, Joint Spokesperson of the Armed Police Force, informed that resignations, departures and leave have been stopped since Magh 19.

He said that a circular has been issued to all offices not to accept resignations of employees working in the Armed Police Force Nepal during the election period, not to go to other offices or depart, and not to approve or grant leave except for the most necessary. 

About 37 thousand personnel are being deployed in the Armed Forces for election security. In addition, 15 thousand 110 Election Police personnel are also being deployed under the Armed Forces for a period of 40 days.

About 338 thousand security personnel including the Army, Police, Armed Forces, National Investigation Department and Election Police are being mobilized for election security.
