There is still time left for the Election Commission to begin campaigning for the upcoming House of Representatives elections. However, election activity has already increased in the villages of Lamjung.

Since the registration of candidacies on 6th Magh, candidates from major parties to independent candidates have reached the villages to understand the wishes, complaints and expectations of voters. Although there are no processions and public meetings, the initial election activity has increased through gatherings, meetings and interactions.

According to the election schedule, campaigning and door-to-door programs can be conducted only after 4th Falgun. However, the parties have already intensified their organization strengthening, voter meetings and local issue collection.

Twelve candidates, including one independent, are in the fray in Lamjung. Parties including the Congress, UML, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and NCP have adopted the strategy of 'feeling the pulse of voters' even before the formal campaign.

UML has completed the municipal-level meeting campaign
Candidate Prithvi Subba Gurung, who is also the vice-chairman of UML, is currently appearing in all municipalities in the district. According to Congress District Secretary Krishna Bahadur Adhikari, the target is to complete the meetings in all municipalities by 20th Magh. He said, 'After the registration of candidacy, it is a natural process for candidates and workers to meet voters.'

RSP interaction campaign begins 
The National Independent Party (RSP) has started its interaction campaign from 15th Magh. According to District Coordinator Ashok Sapkota, a team including candidate Dharmaraj KC has reached various municipalities in phases and engaged in direct dialogue with voters. 'We are focused on direct dialogue rather than large meetings,' Sapkota said.

NCP holds municipal-level meetings in villages

After an extended meeting of the district committee, an election mobilization committee has been formed under the coordination of central member Parasmani Poudel and has held municipal-level meetings and discussions in villages.

RPP district chairperson Kevindra Jung Gurung, Mongol National Organization candidate Bikash Gurung, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party candidate Gujeshwari Prajapati Magaju, CPN (Maoist) candidate Rabindra Nakhola, National Republic Nepal's Bharat Gurung, Shram Sanskriti Party's Kosh Lal Gurung, Janadesh Party's Milan Baskota and independent candidate Santosh Ghimire are also active in meeting voters in their own ways.

Chief Election Officer says – Campaigning is not allowed before the election schedule
Chief Election Officer Shishir Raj Dhakal clarified that rallies, corner meetings and door-to-door programs are not allowed before the scheduled time. ‘There is informal information that preparations are being made in the name of gatherings and meetings. However, action will be taken if there is any illegal activity,’ he said.
