The Koshi Provincial Government has decided to recommend to the Provincial Chief to convene the upcoming winter session of the Provincial Assembly from Magh 25.
The cabinet meeting held on Thursday proposed to convene the meeting from 2 pm on Magh 25, said Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Indramani Parajuli.
According to Parajuli, the Birendra Hall in Biratnagar will be operated as a temporary building as the provincial assembly's own building and secretariat are under construction. The meeting also decided to rent the hall for Rs 800,000 per month.
The cabinet has also made six more important decisions related to the development and legal structure of the province. Approval has been given to the Koshi Province Planning Commission Formation and Operation (Formation Order)-2082, which was revised by the Law, Justice and Provincial Affairs Committee. In addition, in-principle agreement has been given to prepare a draft of the Koshi Province Legal Aid Bill to provide legal aid in the province.
A proposal has been passed to provide tax exemption to vehicles used in the Koshi Pump-Chandra Canal Irrigation Project, operated with the agreement of the governments of Nepal and Japan, towards the development project.
The provincial government has also decided to provide 12.5 percent matching funds to make the rural road network improvement project effective. The federal government has provided a capital budget of Rs 770 million and a current budget of Rs 70 million for the program.
Similarly, the Council of Ministers has approved the Koshi Janata Awas Procedure-2082 with criteria to ensure the housing rights of the poor.
