Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that religious beliefs and cultural heritage should not be affected while moving forward with development projects including road infrastructure.
During the inspection of the Kathmandu-Terai Madhesh Expressway, a national pride project that has been given priority by the country, at a program organized in Khokana, Lalitpur today, she directed to take the concerns of the locals seriously and find a solution. 'We should pay serious attention to the concerns of the locals and find a solution. If necessary, we should be ready to change the demarcation and zero point. We should move forward with our development in a way that does not undermine their trust,' she said.
Prime Minister Karki also suggested that sufficient open space should be arranged while constructing physical structures and other facilities.
'Open space is necessary during natural disasters, and open space is also necessary for people to move around, hold fairs, festivals, and gather. Therefore, we should abandon the idea that structures should be built as soon as we see an empty space. While planning, we should plan and build structures by leaving sufficient empty and open space,' she said.
Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel and Project Chief Lieutenant General Dharmendra Jha briefed Prime Minister Karki on the progress of the project so far, challenges, and other issues. The Prime Minister's inspection team includes the Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and others.
