The Congress-UML-JSP-Nepal alliance won all 18 seats in the National Assembly elections held on Sunday, including 17 and 1 unopposed. As per the distribution among the alliance, the Congress won 9 seats, the UML 8, and the JSP 1 seat.

In Koshi, Sunil Bahadur Thapa of the Congress has emerged unopposed, while Roshni Meche and Somnath Portel of the UML have won in the election held on Sunday. Similarly, Jagat Timilsina of the Congress and Samjha Devkota of the UML have come to the National Assembly from Gandaki. Lalit Jung Shahi of the Congress and Mina Singh Rakhal of the UML have won in Karnali. Elections for one-third of the members of the National Assembly are held every two years. Currently, one of the 19 vacant seats is from the nominated quota, and since one of the 18 seats that should have been elected was unopposed, elections were held for the remaining seats on Sunday.
Congress has now become the leading party in the 59-member National Assembly with 25 seats. Congress has added 9 MPs to the current 16. The terms of 8 of the 10 UML MPs had expired. Those whose terms expired were Indira Devi Gautam, Gopal Bhattarai, Tulsakumari Dahal, Devendra Dahal, Bhagwati Neupane, Bimala Ghimire, Sharda Devi Bhatta and Sumitra BC. There are only 8 people who will be elected from UML. In this way, UML has succeeded in saving the 10 seats it currently holds.
The National Assembly of the NCP formed after the merger of the two parties had 25 members, including 17 from the then Maoists and 8 from the Unified Socialist Party. Of these, it has lost 8 members whose terms have expired. The unified JSP Nepal had four members in the National Assembly. In which the terms of Mrigendra Kumar Singh and Shekhar Kumar Singh have expired. Through the alliance, the JSP has secured one seat. In which the party's patron Thakur was elected.
The term of Bamdev Gautam, who was appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, has also expired. The formal farewell of all the members whose terms have expired is taking place on 20 Falgun.
The size and power equation of the parties will change with the new MPs elected to the National Assembly from 21 Falgun. The National Assembly MPs elected on Sunday will start working only after 21 Falgun. The election of National Assembly members includes 83-year-old Mahantha Thakur to Roshni, who became the first MP from the Meche community.
The power equation of the National Assembly will balance the work of lawmaking and other activities carried out by the House of Representatives. The National Assembly will play a role in restraining the new government and the lower house (House of Representatives) that comes after the election. The changed power balance of the National Assembly will have meaning in lawmaking and parliamentary oversight of the government, from constitutional amendment to lawmaking and parliamentary oversight of the government. The Constitution has given the National Assembly the same power as the House of Representatives in lawmaking and constitutional amendment and oversight of the government.
