The Cyber Bureau of the Nepal Police has released advocate Swagat Nepal after questioning him on charges of violating the Electronic Crimes Act.
During the election campaign, SP Deepak Raj Awasthi said that he was called to the bureau to understand the statement made on social media, such as 'Anyone who opposes Prithvi Narayan Shah will have his head cut off..'.
'When questioned at the bureau, he made a written statement that he would not make such a misleading statement in the future, and that he would make a statement in a manner that would comply with the law, so the incident is being investigated in such a way that he will be present when searched,' Awasthi said
The bureau is also monitoring those who make statements against the law and transmit audiovisual materials on social media and other digital platforms. Nepal is a candidate from Jhapa Constituency No. 2 in the upcoming election for a member of the House of Representatives.
