Nepal Police is going to mobilize 75,497 police personnel for the upcoming elections.

In an interview with Kathmandu Post , Police Spokesperson DIG Avinarayan Kafle informed that police personnel will be mobilized in various roles. According to him, they will have roles such as mobile patrol, reserve force, surveillance and command center operation.

Spokesperson Kafle said that 133,980 election police personnel will support the police deployed for security, and about 200,000 human resources will be mobilized for the election. To a question focused on election security, Kafle said that a special task force has been mobilized to return weapons lost or stolen during the protests and most of the stolen weapons and absconding criminals are currently under control. He said, "We have raided suspicious areas based on accurate information. Detailed details and addresses of absconding prisoners have been sent to each police post and local municipality. Kafle said that the police have 694 small vehicles, 42 large vehicles and 2,628 motorcycles. He said, "We need an additional 1,482 small vehicles, 132 large vehicles and 417 motorcycles. For that, we are requesting private and public sector vehicles to be provided as per the protocols established in collaboration with the government and the Election Commission."

Spokesperson Kafle said that there have been incidents of election-related clashes and tension in some areas and that work is being done to establish tripartite coordination between the local administration, the office of the election officer and the security agency in politically sensitive areas. He said, "We are focusing on crowd management strategies in a modern way, different from the old methods."

He said, ‘We have clear guidelines. The Police Regulations 2071, Media Policy 2060 and the Code of Conduct 2077 prohibit police personnel from engaging in any anti-communal behavior, which includes taking photos, liking/sharing/posting photos with political candidates. A circular has been issued to all subordinate offices. Departmental disciplinary action will be taken against those involved in such activities. We are also monitoring the digital footprint of the employees.’
