A Turkish Airlines wide-body aircraft about to take off from Kathmandu for Istanbul has been returned to the parking lot after experiencing engine problems.
According to Tribhuvan International Airport spokesperson Satish Kumar Basnet, the plane had already pushed back from the parking lot and moved towards the runway. After rolling about half of the runway in preparation for takeoff, the pilot felt a technical problem in the engine and ‘rejected’ the takeoff and returned the plane to the parking lot.
According to Basnet, who is also the director of the airport operations department, the technical team had thoroughly inspected the plane after bringing it to the parking lot. After the inspection, a report has been received that the plane is fit for flight again.
There were a total of 206 people on board the plane, including the crew. The Kathmandu-Turkey flight is a one-way flight of about 8 hours. Due to which there is a significant pressure of passengers going to Europe, America and Canada.
