The Supreme Court has refused to issue an interim order on a writ petition filed against the cancellation of the candidacy of Resham Lal Chaudhary, the patron of the Civil Liberation Party Nepal.

On Sunday, a single bench of Supreme Court Justice Bal Krishna Dhakal ordered a written response from the Election Commission on the writ petition filed by Chaudhary. The court also summoned both parties to appear for a discussion on the interim order. He will not be able to be a candidate after the Supreme Court did not issue an interim order against the cancellation of his candidacy.

He had directly registered his candidacy from Kailali-1. However, he approached the Supreme Court after the Election Office rejected his candidacy. The Election Commission had rejected his candidacy after he was found guilty by three levels of courts in a case of manslaughter related to the Tikapur massacre.

Chaudhary, who had registered his nomination from Kailali-1 for the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21, was rejected by the Election Commission on Thursday.
