Those who applied to be recruited into the Election Police took a written exam at the sports ground in Chhewetar, Gorkha on Wednesday.

Out of the 2,283 election police officers required in Gorkha, only 1,964 have applied. The government is preparing to appoint 149,090 election police officers across the country for the House of Representatives elections to be held on 21 Falgun, and about 200,000 applications have been received.

Those who pass the exam will be appointed on 15 Magh. They will be given 10 days of basic training and deployed to the work area from 25 Magh.

They will receive the same salary, clothing, and ration allowance as the Nepal Police and Armed Forces personnel. The election police will be dismissed on 25 Falgun.
