The weather is expected to become cloudy from Friday afternoon due to the influence of westerly winds.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather will be cloudy mainly in the western region of Nepal with moderate to heavy rain and snowfall. The department's meteorologist David Dhakal informed that clouds will start to form from western Nepal from Friday afternoon on Magh 23 and 24. He said that light rain will start in a few places in the far-western region after that. 

There is a possibility of moderate to heavy snow in some places in the high hilly and mountainous areas across the country on Friday night. He informed that due to the influence of westerly winds, moderate rainfall with thunder will occur in some places in Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and in a few places in Gandaki province.

Dhakal also said that there is a possibility of hail with thunder in one or two places in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.  Although there will be some improvement on Saturday, the effect of the cloudy weather will be felt across the country and the cold will increase, the department has stated.
