The Department of Immigration has announced that 80 more Nepali citizens have been deported from the United States.
The director general of the department, Ramchandra Tiwari, informed that the deported 79 men and 1 woman had arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday. The US brought them to Kathmandu on a chartered plane. The number of Nepalis deported from the US since Donald Trump took office has reached 543 since January 20, 2024. Ramchandra Tiwari, director general of the Immigration Department, said that 80 deportees arrived in Nepal on Tuesday and were questioned and released. The Human Trafficking Control Bureau of the Nepal Police has also questioned them and released them after obtaining their papers. The department stated that the deportees were undocumented, illegally residing, and violating immigration laws.
