A Malaysian-based electronics manufacturer, Western, is set to hire 800 Nepali workers at zero cost. Of the workers the company will hire from Nepal, 600 are women.
Western is going to take four hundred workers each through Akarshan International Manpower Company and Lal Dhanush Manpower Company.
Western, Akarshan and Lal Dhanush Manpower have informed about taking workers at zero cost by holding a press conference. The company will bear all the expenses of the workers going to Malaysia. This includes passport, insurance, welfare fund, air ticket, social security fund, hotel accommodation in Kathmandu, and bus transportation from home to Kathmandu.
Western's representative Edson said that they are going to recruit more workers after being impressed by the workers taken from Nepal earlier. He said, "This is our second phase. We are excited that the manpower company will also implement the zero cost policy."
Bishnu KC, Chairman of Akarshan International Manpower Company, said that the employer company has come to Nepal again because it fully follows the practice of ethical recruitment. Earlier, the same company had taken 300 workers in 2022. KC said, "Akarshan has been sending workers at zero cost for 10 years. Thousands of workers have applied now. There is no cost involved. Interviews are currently underway.’
Nima Sherpa, director of Lal Dhanush Manpower Company, said that they have been sending workers in a way that respects human rights from the beginning. She said, ‘This is not only an ethical recruitment principle. It is also a responsibility. We must maintain the dignity of workers.’
A labor agreement was signed between Nepal and Malaysia in 2075 BS to send workers at zero cost.
