Jagdish Kharel of the National Independent Party has filed his candidacy from Lalitpur-2. Kharel, who joined the Rashtriya Swatantra Party only on Tuesday, has filed his candidacy for the House of Representatives from Lalitpur-2.
Kharel registered his candidacy by reaching the office of the election officer. He resigned from the post of Minister of Information and Communication Technology on Monday.
There was a controversy in the constituency after Kharel got the ticket from RSVP Lalitpur-2. RSVP Lalitpur District President Buddharatna Maharjan had tried to become a candidate from Lalitpur 2. A leader of RSVP Lalitpur informed that the party had asked him to become a candidate from Lalitpur 1. However, he wants to become a candidate from Lalitpur 2, where he contested in the 2079 elections.
Buddharatna, who became a contestant in the 2079 elections, had secured 8,666 votes. UML's Prem Bahadur Maharjan was elected from this constituency by securing 15,025 votes. Maharjan of RSVP came third.
