Nepali Congress Joint General Secretary Udaya Shumsher Rana has registered his candidacy for the upcoming House of Representatives elections from Lalitpur Constituency No. 1.

Rana went to the election officer's office on Tuesday to register his candidacy. Rana had also won the House of Representatives seat from this constituency in the 2079 elections. In that election, Rana had received 23,892 votes, while his rival Nawaraj Silwal of UML had received 19,278 votes.

After registering his candidacy, Rana said that the trust and support he received from the citizens of Lalitpur-1 had made him more responsible. He pledged to move forward by prioritizing the development, peace, good governance and service-oriented politics of this constituency.

Rana has been active in policy debates, organizational strengthening and institutionalizing democratic practices within the party. He was elected as the Joint General Secretary at the special general convention of the Nepali Congress held from Poush 20 to 30.
