Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has said that Attorney General Sabita Bhandari's decision to amend the charge sheet against the defendants facing charges of organized crime and money laundering by misappropriating cooperative savings through the Gorkha Media Network will be reviewed.

He said that the government is also discussing this issue.

‘The government is discussing and reviewing the decision of the Attorney General to withdraw the case of organized crime and money laundering related to cooperative fraud. The government’s attention has been drawn to the news related to this issue in public,’ Home Minister Aryal said at a press conference organized at the ministry.

Former Home Minister and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh President Ravi Lamichhane, former DIG of Nepal Police Chhabilal Joshi and Chairman of Gorkha Media Network Gitendra Babu (GB) Rai have been filed in various courts including Kathmandu as defendants in the cooperative fraud case, money laundering and organized crime case, and all the cases are currently pending in those courts.

Attorney General Bhandari had decided to withdraw the charges of organized crime and money laundering by amending the charge sheet in the same case.

There is widespread opposition to this. Home Minister Aryal said on Tuesday that the Attorney General's decision will be reviewed on this issue.
