A total of 257 candidates have registered their candidacies in 10 constituencies in Kathmandu district for the upcoming House of Representatives elections.

According to the commission, the highest number of 30 candidates have entered the fray in Kathmandu area number 1. The areas with the fewest candidacies are areas 2, 6 and 8, where 22-22 people are contesting.
Looking at the situation in other areas, there is an enthusiastic participation in areas 7 and 4, where 28-28 people have registered their nominations respectively. Similarly, 27/27 people are in areas 5, 9 and 10 and 24 candidates are in the election competition in area number 3.
The Election Office has stated that the number of independent candidates along with party candidates is also significant in these areas of Kathmandu. With the registration of candidacies, the election excitement in the capital has increased.
