The National Independent Party has nominated Ashika Tamang as its candidate in Dhading 1. Tamang, who has been involved in social work, has been nominated by the Rashtriya Swatantra Party.

She had earlier said that she would not contest the election from the Rashtriya Swatantra Party. She had announced that she would run as an independent candidate from Kathmandu 2 or 9 constituencies. She said that she would rise above politics and become an independent candidate.

'I have been in serious discussions and introspection for the past few weeks on whether or not to actively enter politics. During this, I had direct conversations with all the relevant stakeholders, conducted opinion polls through social media, and especially had open discussions with the Gen-G brothers and sisters about their expectations, concerns, issues, and desires,' Tamang said. 'While some positive suggestions were received from these discussions, many critical and negative views also came out. I respect all those suggestions, behaviors, and thoughts equally. Reflecting on these experiences and public sentiments, I consider it my responsible decision in the current context to rise above party politics and move forward in an independent direction.'

RSP leader Ganesh Parajuli handed over the ticket to Tamang at the RSP central office on Monday.
