6 Bagmati province MPs resign to become candidates for the House of Representatives

Six members of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly have resigned from their posts with the intention of running for office in the February 21 House of Representatives elections.

Six members of the Bagmati Province Provincial Assembly resigned before the end of their term to register their nominations for the House of Representatives elections on Tuesday.

The term of the Provincial Assembly is until November 2084. According to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, those who resigned are Kundan Raj Kafle of the Nepali Congress, Aman Kumar Maskey and Prakash Shrestha of the UML, Yubaraj Dulal and Basanta Prasad Manandhar of the Nepali Communist Party, and Sunil KC of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). Except for KC, all the members of the parliament have become ministers in the province.

Kafle, who is also the former Minister of Economic Affairs and Planning, submitted his resignation to Deputy Speaker Apsara Chapagain at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat in Hetauda-10 on Monday. He said that his ticket party is yet to be finalized. 'My ticket is not finalized yet.' However, I am confident of getting the ticket. "I was forced to resign after the people of Dolakha demanded it," he said.

Maskey, Shrestha, Dulal, Manandhar and KC had sent their resignations to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat via email. The party has already given them tickets. According to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, their resignations have been accepted and other processes have been taken forward.
