The Prime Minister is going to hold discussions with the officials of the Election Commission including ministers in Baluwatar today, informed his press advisor Ram Bahadur Rawal.
‘It is time for the election code of conduct to be implemented. The program is to brief the officials of the Commission on when the code of conduct will be implemented and what the government will do and what it should not do,’ Rawal said, ‘Apart from that, it is not a matter of postponing the election or nomination date.’
The Election Commission is preparing to implement the election code of conduct from the first week of Magh. The government is going to hold discussions because the election code of conduct should have been implemented about a month ago.
Following the internal dispute in the Congress, the Sher Bahadur Deuba group filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court on Sunday and has approached the Election Commission and demanded that the nomination registration date of Magh 6 be postponed.
