Health Insurance Board Executive Director Dr. Raghuraj Kafle has resigned. He submitted his resignation to the Ministry of Health on Sunday.

Ministry of Health and Population spokesperson Prakash Budhathoki said that Kafle's resignation has been received and discussions are underway to accept or reject it.

Kafle was appointed as the executive director of the Insurance Board during the tenure of former Health Minister Pradeep Poudel. Kafle's resignation comes at a time when the government is facing problems due to non-payment of the amount due for health insurance obligations.

Some hospitals are announcing that they will stop the service, saying that they have not received funds from the government. According to sources, the government has yet to pay more than 11 billion rupees to various service providers.
