Acting Chief Election Commissioner of the Election Commission, Ram Prasad Bhandari, has said that all employees working in the Commission's information technology department should play an important role in reducing false information, propaganda, and hate speech that can spread through information technology.
He made this statement while inaugurating a two-day training on integrated election management information system and cyber security organized in Kathmandu for computer operators working in the commission in the context of the House of Representatives elections, 2082. He said that work is being done using information technology from voter registration, voter registration management, event tracking system, candidate expense management system, observer management, registration of candidate nomination papers to the announcement of election results.
At the program, Commission Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut said that work is being done by giving high priority to the use of information technology in election management work. He also said that the role of the commission's human resources working in conjunction with technology will be important in ensuring data accuracy, minimizing cyber risks, safe digital behavior, and immediately resolving challenges that may arise during the election.
