A team including cancer survivors is undertaking a bicycle ride on the Mid-Hill (Pushpalal) Highway with the aim of raising funds for the treatment of underprivileged citizens affected by cancer.

The campaign, which started from Chiwabhanjyang, the northeastern border of Panchthar, reached Lamjung on the 14th day. The cycle journey, which began on the first day of the English New Year 2026 (Push 17), reached Sundarbazar in Lamjung from Gorkha on Wednesday. The team reached Lamjung via Panchthar, Tehrathum, Dhankuta, Bhojpur, Diktel in Khotang, Melamchi in Sindhupalchowk, Bidur in Nuwakot, and Arughat in Gorkha. During the journey, public awareness programs on cervical cancer and breast cancer have also been conducted at various places.

The team aims to reach from Chiwabhanjyang in the east to Jhulaghat in Baitadi in the west by covering the approximately 1,800-kilometer-long mid-hill highway within 1 month.

Professor Dr. of Dhulikhel Hospital According to Sumanraj Tamrakar, cancer winner and lead rider Hark Lama, along with cancer winner Kavita Chitrakar, Dr. Bikash Parajuli of Dhulikhel Hospital, and 15 other riders are participating in the campaign.

The money collected from the journey, which was started in collaboration with Cycle Culture Community and Dhulikhel Hospital, will be deposited in a fund and handed over to Dhulikhel Hospital on February 4, World Cancer Day.

During the journey, cancer awareness programs have been completed in Panchthar, Tehrathum, Dhankuta, Diktel, Sindhupalchowk and Gorkha under the leadership of Dr. Tamrakar. He said that more than 1,300 school students and women have benefited from these programs. On Wednesday morning, a cancer awareness program was also conducted at Bhimodaya Secondary School in Arughat.

Meanwhile, a team led by Manish Maharjan from an organization called 'Fortin Peak' is also participating in the journey to make a documentary about the bicycle journey. Manoj Regmi and Amisa Ghimire, directors of Gorkha Apollo Hospital, hosted the team at Arughat. Palungtar Municipality organized a welcome program.

The team is scheduled to reach Pokhara on Thursday, Dr. Tamrakar informed.
