Leaders in favor of a special general convention of the Nepali Congress have proposed the option of a high command to run the party as an alternative to the resignation of President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

If there is an agreement to form a high command to run the party, the pro-general convention leaders are flexible to keep Deuba in a 'ceremonial' status until the upcoming 15th general convention.

Pro-general convention leader Gururaj Ghimire said that since the issue of the special general convention is a change of leadership, there has been no agreement on that issue yet. According to him, since there is no agreement on the option of Deuba resigning, holding elections only for that, forming a final working committee and opening up the leadership selection, distributing tickets along with the high command for running the party, the parliamentary board should be formed on the basis of consensus, and the president should contest in the upcoming parliamentary elections, the pro-general convention leaders have proposed to form a high command for running the party including the acting president, general secretaries, and leader Shekhar Koirala. Central members Balkrishna Khand and Ramesh Lekhak, who participated in the talks from the establishment side, had left the talks venue and gone to Deuba's residence, saying that the president should agree on this issue.

Khand and Lekhak had argued that the president should not be removed and humiliated right now because he wanted a dignified exit. Ghimire said that an alternative was sought to keep Deuba in a ceremonial position and have the party high command run the operation.

The establishment side has agreed to take ownership of the special general convention and implement the decisions made by it.
