The ongoing talks in Lazimpat to seek consensus through a special general convention have been postponed for a few hours.
Talks were ongoing between the special general convention supporters and the establishment party. In the process, leaders including Ramesh Lekhak, Bal Krishna Khand and others have gone to President Deuba's residence in Maharagunj to inform him about the proposals put forward by the special general convention party.
Gururaj Ghimire, who participated in the talks, said that the establishment party seemed positive about the proposals they had put forward. 'If there is a situation where they agree, we can reach a point of agreement,' he said.
During the talks, the general secretaries presented the 'bottom line' that the entire party should take ownership of the policies and programs passed by the special general convention, that Deuba should step aside from the party's active responsibilities as he himself had announced in the central working committee meeting on 29 Asoj, that the ticket submitted by the candidate to the Election Commission should be signed by Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka, and that Deuba himself should also announce that he would not contest this year's election.
