One of the two buses that went missing in the Trishuli River at Simaltal, Bharatpur-29, Chitwan a year and a half ago, a Ganapati Deluxe bus, has been found.
The excavation began on Sunday morning after the remains of the bus were found. On the third day of the excavation, it was confirmed that it was the same bus that had crashed in the Simaltal Lake accident a year and a half ago. After three days of continuous excavation, the Armed Police Force team found the Ganapati Deluxe on Tuesday. Armed Police Constable Lalit Bahadur Kamcha, who was deployed for the search, informed Kantipur that a part with the word Ganapati Deluxe written on it was found during the excavation. He said that the excavation work is still ongoing.
Chitwan Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal said that the search work will be continued further after it is confirmed that it is Ganapati Deluxe.
On the morning of 12th Asad 2081, a Ganapati Yatayat bus with the number 03-001 Kha 2495, going from Kathmandu to Gaur, and a Bagmati Province 03-006 Kha 1516, going from Birgunj to Kathmandu, fell into the Trishuli after being swept away by a landslide in Simaltal Lake, 22 kilometers northeast of Narayangadh. Of the 65 passengers on both buses, three passengers on the Ganapati Yatayat bus swam to the surface. All the others were swept away with the bus.
Only a few of the bodies of those involved in the accident were found. Five hundred security personnel, including the Nepali Army and armed forces divers, water drones (sonar), and police, were deployed to search for the bus and passengers. The government had also brought in high-tech divers from India for further search. But the bus could not be found.
