A 16-year-old Dalit girl was gang-raped on Poush 16 in Khalemsaha, Duduwa Rural Municipality, Banke, according to her family. The victim's family has stated that she was taken from her own yard by five men at 11:30 pm while she was going to the toilet and raped in a shed near her house. According to the victim's family, they even went to the Banke Police Office immediately after the incident with a complaint. But they say the police refused to take the complaint. The victim and her family arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday after the police refused to take the complaint. When we learned about the incident at the Banke District Police Office, the police informed us that the victim had come to the police through an organization working for women and children. The family, who returned after being asked to come for a health check-up, did not get in touch with her after that, but the police say that they received the complaint through post three days ago.
