Thirty-one general convention delegates from West Nawalparasi have signed for the special general convention called by the two general secretaries of the Nepali Congress.

In a district with two constituencies, 14 delegates from constituency number 1 and 17 from constituency number 2 are preparing to go to Kathmandu. Out of the 51 delegates, 31 have so far openly supported the special convention and other friends are also joining, said Umesh Chandra Yadav, secretary of Nepali Congress West Nawalparasi.

Yagya Poudel, a delegate to the special convention, said that he is participating in the special convention to form a new leadership and a dynamic Congress for the upcoming elections on Falgun 21.

‘This is the time for the Genji movement, the new situation of the country and the restructuring of the Congress,’ Poudel said, ‘Our agenda is to go to the elections with a new leadership more than any faction.’

Leaders in favor of holding a regular convention have launched a campaign to have those who signed in favor of the special convention in the district withdraw their signatures.
