The Congress has finalized the candidates for the National Assembly elections. The names of 9 candidates were finalized by a meeting of the Congress Central Working Committee.

The Congress candidate is Sunil Bahadur Thapa from Koshi Province. He had recently resigned as the political advisor to President Ram Chandra Poudel. Dhanendra Paswas and Ranjit Karna have become candidates from Madhesh Province.

The Congress has nominated Geeta Devkota as its candidate from Bagmati Province, while Jagat Timilsina is the candidate in Gandaki.

Basudev Jungli and Chandra Bahadur KC have been nominated in Lumbini. Lalit Jung Shahi and Khamm Bahadur Khati are the candidates in Karnali and Sudurpaschim, respectively. Khati is a former Attorney General.
