UML has decided to field General Secretary Shankar Pokharel as the sole candidate for the House of Representatives election from Dang Constituency No. 2.

The UML Regional Coordination Committee meeting on Sunday recommended Pokharel as a single candidate, regional coordinator Sudan KC informed.

Pokharel was defeated by a margin of 193 votes in the 2079 election from this constituency. In 2079, the then Maoist Center and Congress alliance candidate Rekha Sharma won by 26,880 votes, while Pokharel received 26,687 votes.

General Secretary Pokharel was elected as a member of the Provincial Assembly from Dang 2A in 2074 and became the founding Chief Minister of Lumbini Province.
