Six people were killed and three others injured in a sumo vehicle accident on the Bhimphedi-Kulekhani-Kathmandu road section in Jurikhet, Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-6, on Sunday. Four died on the spot and two others died during treatment.

The names of the deceased and the injured have not been released. The injured are being treated at Hetauda Hospital. Local Surendra Thike said that six of the nine people in the vehicle died. The bodies of the deceased have been brought to Hetauda. The accident occurred when a Sumo vehicle (Na1J 1778) coming from Kathmandu to Hetauda fell into a ravine 100 meters below the road. Three light vehicles had also crashed at the same location before. A police team deployed from the Area Police Office, Bhimphedi rescued the injured and the deceased in the Sumo. The police have informed that the identities of all six deceased have not been revealed. Hospital sources said that two of the three injured are in moderate condition. The Sumo vehicle remains at the scene of the accident.

The accident site is located about three kilometers northeast of the Area Police Office, Bhimphedi. Police have said that an investigation is underway into the cause of the accident.
