A corruption case has been filed in a special court against 14 people, including the then mayor of Budhiganga Municipality in Bajura, Deepak Bikram Shah, on charges of causing damage to public property.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority has stated that the prevailing laws related to public procurement were violated in the contract process for the construction of the municipality's administrative building in the fiscal year 2078/79. It is alleged that the bidder who bid higher was approved by arbitrarily changing the eligibility conditions and evaluation criteria with the aim of benefiting the targeted bidder in the contract process.

The Commission has made the then mayor Shah, along with other employees and related persons, as defendants with the conclusion that this act caused corruption and damage to public property.

The Commission has stated that it has found the offense under Section 17 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 and has fixed the amount of 32.78 million rupees and 65 paisa and demanded imprisonment and fine as per the amount. In addition, an additional punishment has been demanded for the main defendant Shah under Section 24 of the Act.
