Umesh Moktan from Panchthar was among the 51 passengers on board the Buddha Air plane that skidded off the runway at Bhadrapur Airport on Friday night.
The passengers were stranded at the crash site and the situation became more complicated when the air hostesses did not allow them to open the emergency door.
However, Umesh mustered up the courage and opened the door. As a result, all the passengers were saved.
Umesh said, “The air hostesses were telling us not to open it. But I kicked the door open, after which all the passengers ran out in fear. If the door had not been opened, many people would have been crushed to death or injured.”
