Minister for Communications and Information Technology and government spokesperson Jagdish Kharel has said that the government has not been officially informed about the entry of Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Kulman Ghising into the National Independent Party (NISP).
Speaking to reporters at Bharatpur Airport on Friday, Spokesperson Kharel said that the government will take the necessary decision after receiving formal information about Minister Ghising joining the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
‘So far, there has been no formal information about the party entry. After receiving formal information, the government will hold a cabinet meeting and take a decision. Minister Ghising himself will also take the decision,’ Minister Kharel said.
Minister Kharel has also clarified that he has not yet joined any party. He said that he has not yet decided whether to contest the election in the election to be held on Falgun 21. ‘I am currently the spokesperson of the civilian government, I have not yet joined any party, I have not decided whether to contest the election or not,’ Minister Kharel said. ‘The government’s priority is to hold elections. We are going to all party offices and creating an environment for elections. We have not decided to join any party till date.’
Minister Kharel said that all Nepali citizens have the right to contest elections, and that government ministers can also contest elections. But he clarified that the position should not be misused. ‘It is the right of a person to contest elections, not to contest elections, and there is no exemption from abusing the position after occupying an important position,’ Minister Kharel said.
