Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav has said that the country is currently going through a serious economic, social and moral crisis.

Speaking at a public demonstration and protest meeting organized by the Madhesh Province Committee of JSP Nepal in Janakpurdham on Monday for the protection and strengthening of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, Chairman Yadav said that the government has failed to handle the education, health and agriculture sectors and that the responsibility for destroying all those sectors lies with the ruling parties.

He alleged that due to the wrong policies, liberalization and privatization of the Congress and Communist parties that have been in power for the past 35 years, about 135 factories in the country have closed, the condition of government schools has deteriorated, the agricultural sector has been devastated and the country has been burdened with a debt of more than 33 billion.

Although JSP Nepal has been raising the issues of constitutional amendment, corruption reduction and education reform since the beginning, these demands have been ignored due to the arrogance of two-thirds. He mentioned that due to this frustration, the Genji youths have revolted, historical and strategic structures including Singha Durbar have been damaged, the houses of leaders have been burnt and a situation has arisen where they have to flee under the protection of security personnel.

He accused the current government of trying to deceive the Genji youths just as it had deceived the Madhesis and Madhesi people in the past.

Chairman Yadav claimed that JSP Nepal is ready to go to the elections in every way but the current government is incapable of holding elections. Stating that Madhesh is a geography spread over 22 districts rather than just eight districts, he stressed the need to immediately amend the constitution and restructure the provinces. He said that JSP Nepal will continue to struggle until the constitution is rewritten.

He claimed that the parliamentary system has failed and said that a constitutional amendment is indispensable to make arrangements for the direct election of the chief executive. He demanded that a fully proportional electoral system be implemented so that the common citizen can also contest the elections as the current electoral system is very expensive.

‎President Yadav said that although Madhesis constitute about 60 percent of the country's total population, the current constituency structure represents only 10 percent, saying this is a big discrimination. He also stressed the need to arrange reserved constituencies for women, Dalits and minority communities as they are unable to contest elections.

‎The participants in the protest rally raised slogans against anti-federalism activities, lack of good governance, attacks on social justice and problems related to people's livelihood, pressuring the government to be serious about the people's demands.
