The Nepali Congress and the Nepali Communist Party have recommended candidates for the February 21 House of Representatives elections. Most of the recommendations have repeated old leaders. Although candidates such as youth and women have been included by adopting the principle of inclusion, the first priority has been given to old MPs and central leaders.

It seems that those representing the inclusive group have been kept for formality. The Nepali Communist Party has recommended Metmani Chaudhary as the first candidate from Constituency No. 1. He was a member of the House of Representatives twice in 2074 and 2079 and the Minister for Urban Development once. He was also the chief whip of the Unified Socialist Party led by Madhav Kumar Nepal.

Similarly, former Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Kul Prasad KC has been recommended as the second candidate. Provincial Assembly member Indrajit Tharu, who has been a member of parliament several times, has also been recommended. Other leaders recommended from Constituency No. 1 include Sudan Prasad Khanal, Amar Kavar, Dilip Kumar Soni, Deepa Roka Magar and Lum Bahadur Karki.

Similarly, Nirmal Acharya has been recommended as the first candidate from Constituency No. 2. He was a candidate in the 2070 Constituent Assembly member election and was defeated. Hemraj Sharma Pokhrel is in the second position. He was defeated as a candidate for the mayor of Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan City in 2079 BS.

Similarly, Kaviram KC, Khim Bahadur Chaudhary, Mina Budha and Gir Bahadur Mahara have also been recommended from the second constituency. Former Finance Minister of Lumbini Province Dhan Bahadur Maski has been recommended as the first candidate from constituency number 3. Ghimire, who was recommended for the proportional representation, is a former member of the House of Representatives and Chaudhary is a member of the Constituent Assembly, while Belbase is a former deputy chief of Lamahi Municipality.

From Constituency No. 2, the names of Bimala Yogi, Kiran Kishore Ghimire, Bhojraj Pandey, Khagraj Pandey, Bam Bahadur DC, Anita Devkota, Durlabh KC, Bipul Pokharel, Bishnu Sharma and Kulraj Khanal have been recommended for the direct representation. Devkota is a member of the National Assembly, while Pokharel is the outgoing central president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists. Regional President Bhim Prakash Khadka informed that the names of Goma Rawat, Savitra Rana, Hari Subedi, Baburam Bishwakarma, Ganesh Kumar Chaudhary and Bipin Budhathoki have been recommended for the proportional representation.

Regional President Jagat Bahadur Khadka informed that the names of Deepak Giri, Shankar Prasad Dangi, Kirti Bahadur Khadka, Keshav Raj Acharya and Rajendra Dhital have been recommended for the direct representation in Constituency No. 3. Giri is currently a member of the House of Representatives. Giri, who is also a former irrigation minister, has been a continuous candidate for MP since the change in 2046 BS. Dangi is the district president of the Nepali Congress while Khadka is a former president.

Buddhiram Bhandari, Bharat KC, Mahadev Shah, Kaman Singh Dangi, Yama Prasad Pandey, Madan Rasik, Devika Nepali, Mithila Shah, Chitra Giri, Kaulapati Chaudhary, Ghanshyam Sunar Serpali, Chet Bahadur Serpali and Yadav Chaudhary have been recommended for the proportional representation. Bhandari is a member of the Constituent Assembly.

Similarly, for the National Assembly election to be held on Magh 11, the names of Bir Keshari Gautam, Ghanshyam Regmi, Mohanlal Wali and Nadan Kumar Sharma have been recommended from Constituency No. 2. Gautam and Regmi are former district presidents. Gehendra Giri, Jagat Bahadur Khadka, Shankar Giri, Deva Dangi, Krishna Kumar Giri and Arjun Giri have been recommended for the National Assembly from Constituency No. 3. Gehendra Giri is a central member and former MP. He was defeated twice as a candidate for the post of Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City Mayor. Shankar Giri is a former member of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly. Arjun Giri is the central president of the Community Radio Broadcasters Association.

Komal Wali and Shanta Chaudhary have been selected as proportional candidates from UML, while the direct candidate has not been decided yet.
