The Election Commission is set to begin compiling a provisional voter list for the purpose of voting under the proportional electoral system for the upcoming House of Representatives elections.
The Commission has approved the temporary voter list collection program by the Commission in accordance with Section 30 of the Voter List Act, 2073 and the Temporary Voter List Procedure, 2082.
According to the Commission's spokesperson, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the details of the voters whose names are included in the temporary voter list will have to be certified by the office chief of the concerned body from Poush 19 to Magh 18 and sent to the office of the Chief Name Registration Officer or the Provincial or District Election Officer.
There is a program to publish the compiled list and publish the final temporary voter list after examining the claims and objections.
The Commission has stated that the names of employees working in organizations owned or controlled by the Government of Nepal, Provincial Government, Local Level and Government of Nepal or Provincial Government whose names are included in the final voter list published by the Commission will be collected.
Nepali Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force Nepal, detainees and prisoners in prisons, elderly people living in barracks and facilities operated by the Government of Nepal, provincial governments or local levels or operated with the approval of the Government of Nepal, provincial governments or local levels, and officials of constitutional bodies will also be included in this process.
