UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has commented that his party would participate if there were free, fair and rigged elections, but the current government is not moving in that direction.

He said this at a program organized in Kathmandu on Thursday to thank the volunteers of the 11th general convention of the UML. He said, 'If the government holds the election, we will participate in the election, get a majority, and win the election. We want the election to be held in a peaceful environment. We want free, fair, and rigged-free elections. But there is no such time. This government is in the mood for confrontation.'

Referring to the meeting with Prime Minister Sushila Karki at the President's Office, UML Chairman Oli said that the government was formed in a constitutional manner and that they were not against the election but only against regression. Oli said that they demanded the restoration of the parliament, saying that the parliament needs to be restored as soon as possible. He said, 'The President and the Prime Minister say they will hold the election, but the government has not created the environment for the election. There is an environment of not allowing leaders to go, imposing bans, trying the media, and spreading fear.'

Stating that there is an attempt to spread fear in the name of Gen-G, Oli said, 'Some people are taking advantage of it.' Stating that there is no election environment at the moment and the possibility of an election is also low, Oli said, "The government did not ensure our safety at that time, it only created an atmosphere of fear."
