Kamal Poudel from Palpa Tansen achieved the best results in MA Economics from Tribhuvan University. He achieved a GPA of 3.77 from Butwal Multiple Campus and received 3 medals and awards at the 51st convocation ceremony of Tribhuvan University.
He received the Tarapad Chaudhary Gold Medal, Khagendraman Singh Pradhan Medal and Chandraraj Dhungel Memorial Award from Tribhuvan University. By profession, he has been a government employee for the past 9 years.
He is working at the Butwal Vehicle Testing Office under the Department of Transport Management. Poudel, a science student in class 12 and an engineering student at the undergraduate level, chose economics as his postgraduate subject. ‘I had a hunger to understand and gain knowledge about economics,’ he said. ‘I studied in my free time in the morning and evening and got good results.’
He passed his SLC from Padam Public Model Community School in Tansen. He passed class 12 in science in Tansen itself. He graduated in mechanical engineering from Pulchowk Engineering Campus in Kathmandu.
He says that he will also try to use the knowledge he gained by studying economics. ‘I took time out to study alongside my job. I studied to gain knowledge outside my profession,' he said, 'Self-study is a big thing in higher education. The results were good. I studied for knowledge. I am happy after being the best.' He suggests studying the subject of your interest whenever you have time. 'I achieved results by studying before and after office hours. I was interested in understanding economics. I was afraid that I would not be able to pass the new subject. I worked even harder. If I had not enrolled in economics because I studied engineering, good results would not have been possible,' he says.
